Seasonal Spring Program

Spring Home Care

As the snow begins to melt and humidity rises, we want to ensure your home is prepared.

Check off these simple tasks this Spring:

Reduce moisture collection

The best way to divert water away from your home is to point your downspouts away from your home's foundation and clear away any remaining snow from the window wells and foundation walls. Don't forget to check your furnace and exhaust to make sure they are clear of snow and ice. If you find water in your home, in your basement or inside your windows please contact us.

The humidity levels in your home may also need to be adjusted - please check your manufacturer's manual for recommended humidity based on outside temperatures, keeping in mind you're flooring on the main level (which may include hardwood or laminate).

Wait for your Grade Certificate

Part of Hopewell's seasonal work is completing the grade for your home and providing you with a Final Grade Certificate. Once you've received your Grade Certificate, you can move ahead with landscaping projects like decks, patios, fencing, planning and landscaping. Once the Final Grade Certificate is obtained, all maintenance and care going forward will be the responsibility of the homeowner.

Wait for things to settle

As the ground thaws, you may notice settlement in your yard and around your home. This is totally normal. If there is any settlement, we can help with a one-time, unscreened soil drop-off if you'd like to even things out.

Lots can settle 3" or more, so please wait for settlement to happen, fill in the gaps, and proceed with landscaping activities at that time. We recommend waiting until you receive your Final Grade Certificate before getting started.

Driveways and sidewalks

Hopewell's seasonal work including concrete, grade and loam to driveways and sidewalks takes place only during summer months. We can’t do this work during snowy or rainy season. We know you’re eager to have your driveway and sidewalk, and we'll have it in place as soon as possible!

Before we begin, you’ll receive an email from our team. In the meantime, we encourage you not to begin outdoor projects like landscaping, decks, or patios. Seasonal work is weather dependent, and may be delayed due to weather, site readiness and site access. Also, please note work is done block-by-block - not in the order of possession dates.
